Giving a young couple advice about having children is no winning situation. Any kind of impromptu counseling you provide will inevitably become swept underneath a carpet of dismissal and fear. It's strange, because you see yourself in their shoes not too long ago, endlessly weighing the options of unplanned parenthood, shotgun marriages, or martyring yourself for the sake of the next generation. Nonetheless it would be complete heresy to tell a young couple that they should follow their heart, and equally insane to tell them to bring another child into a world where unwanted children are rampant; either choice has proven disastrous. Can you force two people who might enjoy fucking each other, but eventually resent each other because of the child, learn to love one another and make compromises that won't put the child at risk?
